To Flush or Not to Flush

Our cupboards were bare, as well as our fridge & freezer [thanks to the power outages caused by our lovely winter ice storm]. So, we ventured out with our oh-so-adorable two-year-old tot to Wal-Mart to refill our cupboards, fridge & freezer. Normally, we don't think twice about taking Sebastian anywhere with us. For the most part, he is quite well-behaved. Oh, but not yesterday!! I found myself spitting out that phrase that I swore would never leave my mouth as we were headed down the highway to Wal-Mart, "do you want me stop this car right now?" We left the house right at lunch time and everyone was hungry, so we had a quick lunch at the Chinese restaurant. Actually, Sebastian was really good at the restaurant [knock on wood]. I always try to give something he likes and a few new things to try. Now, Sebastian has no problems putting anything in his mouth; however, it is keeping it there that he has problems with. "I no wike it, Mama! I want pit!" as he stuck out his nasty little tongue. It makes me crazy for him to do that and through my smiling "normal Mommy" face I informed Sebastian in my most "mean Mommy" tone that he had best chew up his food and swallow or else. That was minor, of course, and we headed to Wal-Mart where I thought I may beat my kid in front of the entire onslaught of onlookers. Most times, just the "mean Mommy" look and threat to his well-being through clenched teeth is enough to make him straighten up and act like he wasn't raised in a barn, but that just wasn't doing it today. So, after one threat to go "talk" in the bathroom, the next was a real trip to the bathroom. I have a love-hate relationship with public bathrooms. One one hand, they are completely gross, nasty & germ-infected and I try to avoid all costs and on the otherhand, Sebastian is terrified of the automatic flush and screams like a little girl evertime it flushes [most likely because they are so dang loud]--which seems to be a great place to talk about being a good boy. Call it what you want, but it works for us and if it can make him behave, then I'll do what I need to do. [Note: no child was harmed in the making of this post and it has not hendered him whatsoever at using a public toilet when & if he needs to. I do not encourage him to be afraid of the flush by telling him that the crazy toilet monster is going to get him and we talk often about why it's necessary to flush away all the pee & poo. For some reason though, the flushing sounds just enforce the need to behave like a hand to the tush or a break in timeout..which he is doing right now hahaha.]

Well, I didn't get to go to the spa yesterday, as I am sure you can tell. My friend could not get her estranged husband to watch their 2 kids. I am a little disappointed, but it worked out fine because I got to spend the day with my heathen child at Wal-Mart and I wouldn't have it any other way. And, to make me feel better, David cooked us dinner. Spaghetti, Cesaer salad and garlic cheese bread. Yummmmy~ And, he washed the dishes for dessert. It was great. I made the comment last night that I couldn't believe he didn't want to have another child exactly like Sebastian (as he was running around like a hooligan). He said, "I said I didn't want 10 kids like your crazy show". [Jon & Kate + 8] I said, "they only have 8 kids LOL" and do you know what he said???? "I'm sorry, but I would have to leave you!" Yep, direct from his mouth. At first I laughed, but then I was completely pissed. Or course, he was just joking and didn't mean anything by it; but you can't joke around like that with PMS'g woman. How dare he! I guess he got his payback last night as it turns out that he now has the stomach flu that Sebastian had last week. LMAO That was my dessert...along with 1/2 dozen chocolate fudge cookies and a cream cheese brownie! OH, yes I did!!

My Reason to Blog...

Sebastian...the absolute love of my life. He is our currently only child. He is almost 3 and is as independent as they come. He loves washing his hands & swinging. He would live outside if he could. He's developing a love of thunderstorms from his Mama & Daddy. He looks adorable in flip flops. He loves talking on the phone. He has gorgeous blue eyes & dashing dimples. His favorite thing to eat is fruit or Starbursts. He sleeps with his blue snowman blanket wankwie. He loves to be tickled or chased. He loves his Mama & Daddy more than anything!
