Bet Gone Bad

I made a bet with my 5-year-old nephew, Tyler, today that I was sure he would never take.

First of all, you really have to know what a terribly picker eater this child is. He will not eat any kind of meat except chicken and even then it must be prepared just to his specifications. He does not any type of vegetables at all, expect potatoes and again, they must be prepared a certain way & absolutely under no condition can they have anything on them...gravy, butter, etc. He will not try any kind of new foods and if it looks mysterious, different, odd colored, shaped or textures...well, you might as well hang it up. This very selective eater not only applies his wierd eating policies to dinner, but to dessert as well. He will not eat pie crust at all...he does love my mom's chocolate pie made with chocolate pudding; however, he won't eat the crust or the whipped topping...doesn't like whipped topping on anything. The list of foods that he will eat is 10x smaller than the list he won't...anyhow, you get the picture.

Sebastian and I were eating dinner at my sister's house tonight. Sebastian was trying out one of his new Gerber Graduate Toddler dinners made with turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans & carrots. I mixed everything together on one side after dealing the vegetables falling off the little baby spoon for the hundredth time. Tyler had been inquiring about Sebastian's dinner as he is always very concerned about his well-being and I explained to him what Sebastian was trying. I told Tyler that I would give him a dollar if he took a bite of Sebastian's dinner, knowing that there was no way on earth that he would ever put that stuff in his mouth. He just shook his head and said uh-uh!!! I offered $5 and still he shook his head no. Finally, I offered him $20 to take a bite of Sebastian's meal, still thinking that he would not take the challenge. He asked me what was in it and I explained to him again what it was. Then he asked me, "$20?" just to make sure he was hearing correctly. I told him that he had to take a big bite, chew it up and swallow it. That little turd took a huge bite, chewed it up and swallowed it. We were all amazed!!! His mother about fell out in the floor, because this child does not put foreign food in his mouth for no amount of money. And the funniest part, Adam missed the whole thing and Tyler took another bite to show him that he could do it...and I didn't even pay him for that one. He said, "mmm, that was good". My sister fixed breakfast for supper, and again, this is not something that Tyler eats (she usually fixes him chicken nuggets...yuck); however, he ate the breakfast casserole, bacon and eggs. Maybe he will finally start trying some new foods. That was one of the funniest nights ever with them. Tyler is hilarious...I'll have to tell you some "girlfriend" stories at another time, hahaha!!!

My Reason to Blog...

Sebastian...the absolute love of my life. He is our currently only child. He is almost 3 and is as independent as they come. He loves washing his hands & swinging. He would live outside if he could. He's developing a love of thunderstorms from his Mama & Daddy. He looks adorable in flip flops. He loves talking on the phone. He has gorgeous blue eyes & dashing dimples. His favorite thing to eat is fruit or Starbursts. He sleeps with his blue snowman blanket wankwie. He loves to be tickled or chased. He loves his Mama & Daddy more than anything!
